Qualifications
To qualify for an initial appointment (4-year term) to the office of notary public in the State of Missouri, one must:
- Be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Be a registered voter of the county within, and for which, one is commissioned; or be resident alein of the United States.
- Have a residence address in the county within, and for which, one is commissioned.
- Be able to read and write the English language.
- Not have had his commission revoked during the past ten years.
- Must read the Missouri Notary Public Handbook.
- Must Complete a computer-based or a written notary training course approved by the secretary of state . Avaliable at no cost to you. Attach your certificate of completion to the notary application.
- Submit an application to be appointed a notary public, and pay the State appointment fee.
- Obtain a surety bond in the amount of $10,000.
